This year I had many conversations with fellow graduate students about the challenges they face as teaching assistants and instructors. If there is a major writing assignment for an undergraduate archaeology course, it is usually an end-of-term research paper. There are (typically) three categories of sources: 1) Primary, 2) Secondary, and 3) Tertiary The distinction between primary, secondary, and tertiary sources can be a bit hazy.

In this post, I focus on one of the key elements of such a paper — sources.
