Our discipline groups work together from within their respective disciplines to explore the research areas for concerted research chosen by the Faculty.

The Faculty focuses on research about the promotion of human dignity (including combating poverty) as part of the Hope Project.

We need a theologically grounded missiology and a missiological focused theology.

The Faculty, which offers the Missiology (Thesis) programme at the Stellenbosch University, traces its institutional roots back to 1859 and 15 decades of theology has been taught at Stellenbosch.

Moreover, the thesis indicates the author’s organization and method—he will focus on a single essay and will situate this text in its historical context, examining Machen's theological convictions as well as his political and social ideals in turn.

Thus, a clearly articulated thesis tells the reader what the writer intends to accomplish.

The Faculty, which offers the Missiology (Thesis) programme at the Stellenbosch University, consists of three discipline groups: Old and New Testament; Systematic Theology and Ecclesiology; and Practical Theology and Missiology.

Postgraduate programmes are offered by the three discipline groups.

Analysis of Machen’s essay “The Responsibility of the Church in Our Age” in light of its historical context reveals that his missiological vision was guided not only by his theological convictions but also by his political and social ideals.

This thesis clearly states the author’s topic (Machen’s missiological vision) and asserts a claim about it (that Machen’s missiology is the product of several interrelated factors).
